Skiing - Blue Mountain, Ontario Winter Wonderland

Feel like frolicking? Visit Blue Mountain in Ontario, Canada! The perfect winter destination for snowboarding, skiing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, winter caving and ice fishing. Blue Mountain, given it's name due to large deposits of blue clay, is a visually prominent section of the Niagara Escarpment. It is located west of Collingwood and reaches heights of over 300m (1000') above land overlooking the beauty of Georgian Bay below.

Wedged between the mountain and the bay are communities like Clarksburg, Craigleith, Thornbury and the Town of the Blue Mountains a mere 90-minute drive from Toronto.

Blue Mountain Resort has 36 trails and 15 lifts in total. Including 4 high-speed, six-person chairs for day skiing. There are also 25 trails available for night skiing with 12 lifts under the lights. Enjoy an equal balance of beginner, intermediate and expert terrain. Blue Mountain Resorts Our Discover Skiing and Snowboard Circuit contains learning stations that will to help guide you through the essentials of skiing and snowboarding. After you’ve successfully completed the Discover Skiing and Snowboarding Circuit, try the Full Mountain Experience Program that takes you to the top of the mountain to fine-tune your skills on the more intermediate terrain. While staying in and around the Blue Mountain area, your choice of accomodations can range from seasonaly affordable and predictable to very high end and expensive. The Blue Mountain Chalet, and the Blue Mountain Lodge both look pretty nice to me however, just a small taste of what is available. From rustic mountain cabins to sophisticated condo style hotels there are stunning four season homes,  friendly, family oriented communities that cater to tourists and immense real estate investment potential for those who want a slice of that pie.

When not skiing enjoy a unique shopping experience in the village, taste international cuisine while sipping on brandy by the fire. Or go exploring in a natural, outdoor adventure via the Scenic Caves. Take a short drive to the shoreline or go to Midland and dangle your baited hook into the frozen waters of Georgian Bay. Harvest those trout and perch from your day of ice fishing then grill your catch of the day back at your chalet!
